My main priority is to foster balanced and sustainable approaches to managing the economic, social and environmental needs of Division 10.

It is vital that the key economic drivers of our community - tourism, agriculture, building and construction, environment and service industries are strongly encouraged and that new innovative tropical industries be developed and fostered.

I will ensure that infrastructure and property services are improved, this includes local roads, bridges, footpaths, drainage, waste collection and management throughout Division 10.

It is essential that the Port Douglas Waterfront project is completed, that the Mossman business area is upgraded and that the Daintree Coast (Cow Bay) Community Facility is constructed.

I will also strongly support the continuation of the existing administration office in Mossman, investigate the need for a one-stop shop and branch library in Port Douglas.

I support maintaining the special area promotion charge that funds our tourism industry and the Port Douglas Daintree Tourism Ltd which is such a vital part of our economy.

I also support improved Council infrastructure, sporting and recreational facilities, affordable housing,  improved public transport, the Mossman Aged Care Facility, better aged care, disability and youth services.

The rich fabric of all the communities in Division 10 is fostered through the many local events and celebrations, community groups and sporting organisations throughout the Division.  To support these I will push for the establishment of a Community Funding Program to ensure equity and transparency and to make certain that these largely volunteer efforts are assisted and allowed to continue and develop.

I will utilise my energy and expertise in government and business to ensure that the Cairns Regional Council is acknowledged as open and fair and fosters economic development that enhances our environment and lifestyle.

I want to make sure the natural environment of every part of this community continues to be protected for the benefit of all.

I want to ensure that there is an appropriate balance between the interests of local residents, commerce/tourism and the natural environment.

I will exercise good governance, sound judgement, common sense and fairness when making decisions and take into account the interests of all the community. 

While I did not support the forced amalgamation and spoke at the protest rally in August 2007, as the State Government has made it clear the amalgamation is unlikely to change, it is important we make the best of the situation, so we need to work together and focus on the future. There will be opportunities as well as challenges and I will work very hard to ensure that the new Cairns Regional Council works for the benefit of all.
